Confused about when to use Pantone inks and when to use a CMYK build?  Here’s the breakdown:
Most Pantone inks can be converted to a CMYK build easily, giving you additional color options on your process job. When designing a job that uses a corporate identity color, however, it may be wise to use a spot Pantone. It is not possible to adjust your built color on press without affecting the rest of the job. When your color needs to be dead on, use the actual Pantone color. When close is good enough, take advantage of adding additional colors to your process job with the use of CMYK builds.  What’s the advantage of adding more colors using only a CMYK build?  Cost!  If you use Pantone plus process, this will generally always cost more money.
